Launched in February 2011 and providing quality content and interaction with other members, the British Association for the Study of the Liver (BASL) Clinical Community is the new online communications hub for the specialist medical society.

GBCPR provide secretariat and PR services to BASL and worked with Oyster Healthcare Communications, who developed and host the site, to provide the new online meeting place for members.

The site provides the advantages of professional and social network sites in a secure space designed specifically for clinicians. Bristol-Meyer Squibb have provided funding for the Community via a sponsorship agreement with BASL, but editorial control rests at all times with BASL.

The BASL Clinical Community offers the BASL membership the benefits of the following services:

  • News headlines
  • Resources
  • ‘Member of the month’ interviews
  • Discussion forums
  • Poll of the month
  • Events calendar
  • Contacts
  • Ask an expert
  • Learning Zone.

GBCPR is now working again with Oyster to produce an online e-learning toolkit for hepatology nurses. The toolkit, supported by an education grant from MSD, will be hosted on the Clinical Community.
